5 Things Your Blog Needs Right Now

When I teach and train to my content marketing model, and even when I do peer reviews for other bloggers, no matter how nicely designed the blog is, I see several things that it’s missing. Thankfully, this is an easy fix. So here are the top five tools you need to help boost your blog….right now.

A Floating Social Media Sharing Widget

Look to the left of your screen. Do you see that? If your blog doesn’t have this, you can get the code to copy and paste into a widget for your blog at Add This. This will automatically share your blog direct from the user.

Neato, right?

Social Media Widgets

Now, look to your right and scroll down. Do you see how I have built widgets for each and every social media connection I have? I see so many blogs without this, but the most successful bloggers out there realize they are a necessity.

Here is how you create those:

Simply plug in the URL for your Facebook page and hit the “Get Code” button. Then, copy and paste that code into a widget on the sidebar of your blog.

Twitter – Click here

Simply define your settings and then copy and paste the code into a new widget.

Simply decide what you want, hit build it, and copy and paste the code into a new widget.

This will walk you through the process. Just plug in your username and copy and paste the user generated code into a widget.

And that’s all I have to say about that. Now, on to the next thing you need.

A Facebook “Like” Button at the Top of Your Page – Click here to access the Developers site

Plug in your Facebook business page URL and copy and paste the code at the top of your website.

Now, on to the next thing.

A Newsletter Subscription Form

My weapon of choice is MailChimp. It’s not enough to have people subscribe to your blog. It’s important to repackage that content and send out a once a week email blast to everyone on your list. This is especially important when we are discussing monetizing your blog. In your weekly e-blast, you will put in all of the monetized content you have written for the week – and, if you are really smart, a few affiliate ads as well. This trains your customers to go back to the thing that makes you money….your blog.

Add your newsletter code in your sidebar and at the bottom of each and every one of your blog posts, if you want to maximize results.

And finally….

Guest Blogging Opportunities

An opportunity to have someone guest blog for you on your site. This is a great way to help newer bloggers get some exposure, in addition to giving you great content. It is also important for me to note that you should also focus on guest blogging on other third-party affiliate sites or other blogs to increase the exposure to your blog as well, and be sure to include all of your relevant blogging and social media links in your profiles and in your byline….so people can find you.

Not sure where to go for all this? I have a list of over 40 platforms (and even hints on how to market them) on my mind map, which you can access by clicking here.

Of course, if all of this seems like a bit too much for you, you can hire us by signing up for one of our MONTHLY PLANS or just have us do some PLUG AND PLAY ON THE ALACART selection.
