I might be a humble wordsmith, but I am also a humble wordsmith that like to generate income. In this guide, I am going to show you how I monetized one single blog in 15 (and no I’m not kidding) different ways. So, if you’re ready to take your money making blog to the next level, you should probably keep reading, because this is some good stuff.
The case study I will be providing is from the Penny Pinchers blog. The below is a preview.
I used infolinks as one of my pay per click, in-text ad platforms. The code is easy to install and only takes a couple of seconds to plug into a widget.
This gives me ads generated on the side of the page, based on the blog content (increasing click through rates) and in text ads as well. They rotate on their own, so I never have to change the code.
I used a prime ad on one side of the left hand side of the page, and get paid a commission from each Prime membership purchased – 4%.
I generated my own Amazon.com book store for recommended reading for all of my blog readers and subscribers. This does a couple of things for me. First, people can shop the Amazon point of sale system direct from my website, but it also gives me a list of books that I can write reviews on that I can also market through Amazon (again at a 4% commission).
There are some things that I have paid to get access to that I customized, rebranded and am selling more cheaply than my competition. I did a plug and play point of sale platform using jot forms to accomplish this.
I found a few items relevant to this site’s message and signed up as an affiliate through this massive affiliate bank and get paid per click through on each individual ad. Similarly to the book store from Amazon, this does two things for me as well: it allows me to have static (unchanging) ads on the site and in each blog, but it also gives me products and services to review which I can then put into a blog and up my earnings.
A lot like Commission Junction, Click Bank gives me useful services and affiliate promotions I can use both in a single blog as well as static advertisements. However, this one only pays out on a pay per sale basis, but it can range from 2% to 50% of the total sale.
Much like Click Bank, I signed up for multiple affiliate programs using this bank, have static ads and can craft blogs around useful merchants. On this, you will either earn a flat rate for each sale completed, or a percentage of that sale.
I am a big fan of E-bates, and since it is a site all about saving money, I have no issue promoting it. I put a static ad on the home page and will do blog reviews or money saving recaps adding my affiliate link in it, earning $5.00 per signup (and signing up is free), plus bonuses.
For every person who visits this cool, money making site, I earn $1.50 on their free sign up. I promote this the same way I promote E-bates.
If you think you are starting to see a theme here, you would be right. I get paid $1.00 for each free sign up on this site and earn referral bonuses to boot. And how to I promote these? The same way I promote E-bates and Project Payday.
I happened upon this website back in the day, when I was down on my luck and was looking for ways to earn some quick cash. You sign up and get paid to view advertisements from various advertisers. I earn a percentage of each person’s income who I refer (with no penalty to them) and have earned as much as $86 a day in referral fees alone. Promotion methods? Rinse and repeat above.
Free surveys, promotions and getting paid to view ads, and I get paid to promote it. I earn cash based on how people perform under me. My best paycheck was $125 in a single day.
I Repackage Content
Since my entire blog is monetized and designed to make me money by providing helpful, useful information to folks, I simply repackage the blogs from that week and send them out in an email newsletter which brings people back to the blog, which helps me earn more money, all the while saving me time in the process, because I don’t have to create a new piece of content for my newsletter.
Newsletter Bonus
I also realized that I could leverage my affiliate advertisements in each newsletter. I usually only put about two or three in, so as not to make it look obnoxious, but I earn cash that way as well.
Leverage Affiliate Networks
I enlisted the armies of folks signed up for the affiliate banks. When I published my E-book, “How to Make Big Money Blogging in 90 Days or Less I enlisted the armies of folks signed up for the affiliate banks. When I published my E-book, “How to Make Big Money Blogging in 90 Days or Less” I simply offered up a portion of my revenue to have other people market it for me. Since I went through KDP direct, I earn 70% of each sale. Priced at $2.99, that’s a net profit to me of $2.09 to me, per sale. By offering $1 per sale (which I market as 50% revenue share), I have bloggers from all over the world marketing my e-book, putting me on track to sell 5,000 copies this month, a net profit to me of $5,000….and I didn’t have to do anything for that other than create a piece of content and let other people market it for me. And that just repeats over and over again, each month. – Which kind of makes me want to write even more e-books.
For my next blog in this series, I am going to give you a by the numbers example on just how monetized blogging works.
